Let's take a step backwards and go over some basics first.

First you need a drive system.  The drive controls the motor.  Any AC drive consists of the following sections:
1. A converter which takes fixed voltage, fixed frequency AC voltage and converts it into DC voltage.
2. An inverter which takes the DC voltage and chops it up into variable voltage, variable frequency for output to the motor.
3. Control electronics to perform the speed control, torque control, communication, etc.

Usually, these are in one package.  In your case, these are separate devices.  There are some advantages to doing it this way, but that is a separate discussion.

1. The Smart Line Module is your converter.  It is taking the AC and converting it to DC.
2. The motor modules are the inverters.  The DC voltage is shared among them from the converter.  In your case, you have Double Motor Modules, which simply means there are two inverters in one box.
3. The CU 320 is the control electronics for the drives (not quite true, but I'll get to that).

Normally, you would have a PLC to perform the logic functions and maybe a motion controller to perform more complicated motion tasks.

Your D445 combines the PLC and a motion controller, so you can do both types of control.  It also contains a separate drive controller, just like the CU320.

Why do you have a CU320 if the D445 has one built in?  There is a limit to how many drives a single CU320 can control.  Since you have more than one unit can handle, there is a second one added.  So your D445 is probably controlling drive 1-5 and the CU320 is controlling 6-10, or however the system is broken down.

Hope this helps explain what your various boxes do.  Do read some of the technical literature available.  This is a fairly complicated system.
