problem controlling steppermotor via em253

Blitzfreak Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	good day... i have a question regarding the simostep stepper motor included in the Micro Automation Set 10.. whenever i try to reverse the direction (negative direction) the motor won't turn. it doesn't have any problem in the positive direction. when the motor is set to the negative direction the current position is decrementing but the motor won't move. i hope someone can help me regarding my problem. by the way, i'm a student from the Philippines and the above-mentioned MAS10 is used for my project design. one more thing, the GSM kit (TC35i) won't respond once i connected it to the PLC... even if i apply some 24V into the 6 port RJ socket the LED status won't give any output.

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, I thing your problem with the neg. direction of the drive is based on an wiring error. The EM253 support open collector and line driver output. Some drivehas one connection for the pulses and one input for the direction. Other drives has one connection for the frequency to turn right and an other connectionfor the frequencyto turn left. Check what is the necessary interface: Wiring diagramms you can find in the S7-200 system manual (Chapter A,page 453).The diagram on top shows how to connect to a drive with two frequency connection (one for each direction). Diagram at the button shwos how to connect to a drive with one frequency connection and a dig. signal fordirection. GSM modem does not work. As I know, some GSM modem need toconnect the 24V DC to an additional PIN. I thing you have to connect 24V DC to PIN 1 and 4 and ground to pin 5 or 6. I hope this helps. Regards Helmut
