What is the role of DC link in the micromaster420?

Hello.

The DC link function is to convert in one side the AC input into a high votage DC, on the output side the DC voltage polarity is switched to form an AC power waveform to the motor. 

In the input side you have 460 VAC and after DC link stage you get usually 630 VDC.

Having DC allows the device to modify the frequency at the output stage.
