Once again a stupid question.

I would like to create an "event log" with history and display in a window with time and date.

I'd like to log several tags in the plc, to see what the operator has been up to if there is a malfunction of the system.

Like switching on and off pumps, stop and start of the entire system and so on.

Also all alarms should be presented in the event log.

Some of the PLC tags should be logged on both rising and falling edge.

The setup is a TP700 Comfort together with a 1214 CPU.

I'm using V13 with all the latest upgrades.

I have already created an alarm list without any history, like the customer wants it.

How can I do this in a simple way ?

The more I read in the manuals, the more confused I get.

the solution to your question depends.

You could use the HMI alarms (discrete & analog) and create a new alarm class for these.
Then you can add a alarm view to your screen and choose "Alarm buffer" in its general properties and enable only the new alarm class.

The thing is alarm logging works with most data types, but you can't log BOOLs without problem.
They should be grouped and used like an integer or similar.
You can do this in the PLC, for example like described here:

It's like a mask on top of several Boolean tags and you can check them on each single bit in the alarm.

I've done what you suggested, new alarm class and enabled the alarm buffer.

There is another "radio button" called Alarm Log, what's the difference between the function of that one and the one for the Alarm Buffer ?

• "Alarm buffer" shows you all alarms, that occurred during runtime. It resets when the runtime stops.
• "Alarm log" shows you alarms, that are logged in a separate file, which you can select in the field below. You have to configure it first in "Historical data > Alarm logs". (It can display the alarms that are logged while the runtime is active or previous alarm logs - depending on the selected file.)
