Programming PLC via Ethernet

Automation_Systems Posts: 58 Rating: (0)	Hi everybody, i need your help. is there a way for programming a CPU 315-2PN/DP, for first time using the ethernet port?? Because the plc is new i going to use for a project but i share my pc adapter, so i want to know if is possible accesing to the plc using only the ethernet port, actually im using scalance X005 switchfor connect PC and PLC, but no results, the PLC has a default ip for programming? Thanks

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, sure you can. You will only have to provide an IP Address to the CPU. This can be done either - by STEP7 with the Tools in "Edit Ethernet nodes", or - by the PST Tool. Than you can access the PLC with a first time HW Config download. Best regards J_Bell

Jesper Pedersen Posts: 279 Rating: (30)	The easiest is to setup everything in the HW Config, including the IP address. Then save and compile, and then download. A dialog will appear for specifying the connection parameters, and the IP address you configured will be suggested. But as the IP address hasnt yet been set, you must use the MAC address in stead. And this you do by either reading it off the module and typing it in manually, or you just hit the "view" button - whereafter STEP7 will search for available MAC or IP adresses - after a while a list will appear and you choose the one that is the target CPU.
