I have an upcoming project using WinCC 7.3 SE Upd. 9 as the SCADA to monitor several PLCs of Schneider Modicon M340s and possibly some S7-200s.

Currently I have setup these:

1. Windows 7 x64 Professional SP1 running using HP Z440 Workstation (Intel Xeon E5-1620 v3 3.5GHz, 16 GB RAM and dual NVIDIA Quadro K620 VGA cards for 4 monitor display).
2. WinCC 7.3 SE Upd. 9 running fine
3. SIMATIC Logon
4. SIMATIC TIA Portal V13 SP1 Upd. 4 (STEP7 Proffesional & WinCC Basic)

I have tested the environment to communicate with some tags of S7-300 CPU 315-2 PN/DP (because these are the CPUs available for the test). Nothing is abnormal using SIMATIC S7 Protocol Suite, TCP/IP.

Now I'm struggling to communicate with Scheneider M340 CPU. I have configured a Modbus TCPIP driver. The server address, I have filled it with the CPU IP address of 192.168.0.3. Default port 502 and remote slave address 255. I have tested using all CPU types: 984; Compact, Quantum, Momentum; Premium, Micro. And with the swap words in 32-bit values on and off. The test tag of %MW26 is always showing 0x08 - bad - not connected. The WinCC Channel Diagnosis is also showing red X mark for the Modbus TCP connection and all the counters are zero.

My questions are:

1. What can I do to communicate with the M340 CPU?
2. What communication protocol to use with S7-200? Since these is no PPI connection type available in the SIMATIC S7 Protocol Suite and no PPI driver is available too. Do I use MPI instead?

OK, thanks for the info, Navnag. I'll check that S7-200 options. And as for the M340, I felt so stupid! I was downloading the project file to the simulation environment, no wonder I couldn't get it connected to WinCC.

Anyway, here is my setup for connecting WinCC to M340:

1. Add Modbus TCPIP driver in the Tag Management
2. The connection parameters for the CPU (accessible by right clicking the connection after it is created):
   • CPU type: Premium, Micro
   • Server: Fill this with the IP address of the CPU, in my case it is 192.168.0.3
   • Port: 502 (default)
   • Address of remote slave: 255 (default, I'm not using any gateway, so this is the correct setup)
   • Swap words in 32-bit values: unchecked (default)
