In one of our project we have this situation:

We have some 4-wire sensors .Analog module 7KF02 has its measuring jumpers set to 4DMU on the side of it but the configuration that is downloaded to PLC is set to E +_10. and there is no fault status neither on PLC nor 7KF02 and in both program and HMI the values are correct. There is just a message on module diagnostic buffer that says something about mismatch parameters.

1st: Why there is no signaling about this mismatch between hardware and config?

2nd: what is the benefit of setting measuring range in HW? does it have something to do with scaling the real signal to logical one?

 Because you need different electrical circuit to measure and configuration of active/pasive sensor/measuring device.

Pay attention, it is possible that the module will be destroyed if you leave this configuration,

Dear Ste39 ,there is no electrical problem here. Signals are 4-wire and 7KF02 measuring range is also set to 4DMU. just in HWconfig the setting of channels are E+_10.there is no error in measuring and scaling. that's why i got surprised as i didnt see no fault on card or cpu.

If there a risk of destroying ,why isn't there such visual sign of this conflict or error?

Have you enabled the module's diagnostic interrupts and group diagnostics in HW configuration?
