Dear Experts, I want someone to explain  to me in details on how to create alarms on wincc flexible 2008, both analog and discrete alarms..

You need to do the following in WinCC Flexible 2008 project file:

1. Create a new connection with your PLC inCommunication -> Connections.
2. Create a new external tag of word type for your connection inCommunication -> Tags.
3. Create an alarm with your required Text inAlarm management -> Discrete Alarms. Set the external tag as the Trigger tag and set its Trigger bit. You will get the Trigger address.
4. Use the trigger bit address in PLC to trigger your alarm.

In addition to above,

The tag to be attached to the discrete alarm should have the data type - word / Integer, whose individual bits are attached for different alarm triggering.
