I am using a IEC timer TON (SFB4)  in a Functional Block(FB).

The timer is working fine for the first FB call.Required time delay is obtained using timer. But when the FB is called for multiple times, IEC timer is not getting restarted from 2nd time. It is not giving any required delay. 

Does resetting the timer will solve my problem. How to reset a IEC timer in FB.

How did you called the TON in FB it depends

When you call the TON IEC then it needs DB if you give the specific DB number then it will only work for single call of the FB in which you called the timer

So name the timer in the FB Static area and give the data type as TON and then use the name of that static where you need the TON db and try it you will get it solved

Thank you for the reply. It seems you are mentioning about multi- instance timers in a FB.

But for me, I have defined only one timer in a functional block(Single Instance).

Briefly my problem is:

As per my logic

1.A FB will be called when a input bit becomes high, and after a delay of 5 minutes(using SFB 4 IEC timer) corresponding output will become high.

2.When Input goes low, FB will not be called and corresponding output will be resetted forcefully(using reset coil).

3. When I call the FB first time, output is energised after 5 minutes, but when I am doing it second time, output is energised instantly. This is happening becaused IEC timer is retentive and it is not getting reseted.

I want to use it as s_odt but not s_odts

Do check and update access for the instance DB where it is called and analyse through instance DB for the timer.

With retentive ODT, u can reset timer with negative edge of input. It will work properly.
