Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	Your temp isjust pointer! But to make it you should apply following : pointer = bit_number + 8*byte_number. So pointer P#2.3 would look like DW#16#13. When you make L/T instruction you specify data type TDBD[#temp] would make transfer forDWORD,beginningataddress,specifiedin#temp. TDBB[#temp] would make transfer forBYTE ,beginningataddress,specifiedin#temp. Please mention #temp in both cases is the same. PS. Refer to Step7 help, chapters area-internal indirect addressing. After that area-crossing indirect addressing would be helpfull. And after these 2 you can read register addressing and ANY pointers. Guess then you would be pointer expert:^)

Hi, yes the pointer is a bit pointer.... the data type is irrelevant.... if you use 1. L L#0 (or L L#767567) the data type is dint 2. L 0.3 (or L 2323.12323) the data type is real... 3. L MD10 (the MD10 is a rael the data type is real etc.....) so the data type depend the load command.... Best regards Zenta

93Mustang Posts: 65 Rating: (0)	I'm considering doing this in a different way without the need for indirect addressing or a counter. Is there an instruction that can shift double words in a datablock for up to 50 real data values. This way I could just keep shifting the data and copy the newest data to DB75.DBX0.0 every time I've experimented with SFC 20 but because the data areas overlap you have to use a dummy area first which wastes memory. Is there another way to do this ?

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	1) There is no instruction to shift 2 doublewords 2) There is instruction to shift bytes in doubleword - CAD 3) Indirect addressing is exactly what you need in STL. In SCL it can be done using arrays.
