I haven't used this forum before so hopefully it's posted in the correct place.

I usually have no problems communicating from laptop to PLC but sometimes it stops working for some reason. If I try again some time later it downloads fine without changing anything in the software or hardware. 

If for example, I try to download from the hardware configuration page or any blocks like OB1 or FC105, my laptop just displays the windows loading icon for around 5 minutes before showing the download error code 294:23, "UNABLE TO COPY BLOCK OB1". As well as error code 33:16418 in messages.

This happens when downloading to PLCSIM or a real CPU. I have downloaded many times before so i know what I'm doing. I tried downloading a new project which still doesn't fix the problem. 

Im struggling to see what the problem is?

CPU- 315-2DP 6es7 315 2AG10 0AB0 V2.6, using a MPI adaptor lead.

Software is Step7 Professional 2010 v5.5

what type of MPI adapter, original Siemens or other manufacturer? Picture of adapter attached here can be helpful. What settings you have set in PG/PC interface?

have a try and disable anti-virus-scan.

Also a repair-installation or update to the newest SP/HF can help

Do the installation with deactivated anti-virus scan and with full admin-rights(rigth-click on setup.exe-> run as Admin)

thanks for the replies, this forums great 

I downloaded with no issues there now, without changing hardware or software so not sure what the issue is.

its not an original Siemens mpi lead, it came from eBay I think. I tried changing the interface to plcsim.mpi1 for simulation or for the real cpu last night but still wouldn’t connect. 

Do you reckon the mpi lead could be causing the problems? I can’t get a photograph of it right now

i just find it strange that it will work now for a while but the same problem with the same error code will crop up again. But then will get resolved without me doing anything other than keep trying to download.

Hello,

only my experience with some not Siemens adapters. They can produce also some kind of lags or timeouts, also in Online monitoring f.ex. If you have chance, try another adapter or also look to PC Device Manager if all is ok with that adapter as Device.

Some additional notes:

It might be good idea to check and update the firmware of PLC. When reading the firmware revision history for 319 PLC, the recent firmwares have fixed bunch of issues where connection becomes slow ect.

Another situation might be if the PLC has so many online connections that it does not have free resources.
