Hi all,

I need to update the software in a 1214C CPU DC/DC/relay (6ES7214-1HG40-0XB0) but when trying to do it the error message "Loading the hardware configuration failed (0050-258 2 2458)" appears, as shown in attached screenshot.

I've already:

1) Checked firmware versions of CPU and in hardware configuration and they match;

2) Uploaded current CPU software, changed it and tried to download new version but another error message appears;

I don't know what else to do and I need to update this software soon. I'm using TIA V13 SP1 Upd9.

What firmware version has the CPU?

I might be wrong but V4.0 is the firmware version.

Please follow the instructions mentioned by "huggy_d1"

Go to online access etc.

If you can find the CPU, go to 'online & diagnostics'

Then you see a new screen popup, where you can find the 'online' firmware version of the used CPU.

Perhaps it is v4.1 or 4.2

While you are connected to the PLC with the problem....

Create and open a new empty project.

Look in project tree for Online Access. Click it.

Click on the network adapter connected to your plc.

Double-click "Update accessible devices"

Wait for devices to appear.  If your plc appears, you want to back up the hardware configuration, or at least go online and look at it.  Verify part #'s match, and that firmware revisions match.

Now either upload to your empty project the hardware config, or create *Just the PLC* into your blank project.  Now upload the project from the plc to your blank project.

If you can compile the hardware / software (ignore warnings for the most part), and download, you are now ready to complete the hardware configuration manually or at least validate it against the original project settings (like system / clock memory, input filtering).

See if this does not get you closer.

Hi huggy_d1,

I did exactly what you suggested but unfortunately it didn't work:

1) I checked FW version, which actually is v.4.1.3;

2) I uploaded the HW/SW configurations from CPU into an empty project;

3) I tried to download the exact same project but an error occurred again, this time a little bit different from before, as shown in attached screenshot.

Truly don't know how to fix this and soon I'll need to test the unit. I'll be in deep s%&# if I don't figure out a way to resolve this issue this week.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hello,

what exactly TIA version (SPs, Updates)? If you can, update your TIA to highest version - SP1 and Update9, hope good remember. Give us for first your momentary full info of TIA version.
