Display DB values in a combobox?

Ddejong Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Hello, I've a DB where i have 100 shipnames, now I want to select 1 ship by scrolling through the names. Does anybody know how i can do this? Every names is a 30 character length string. The names are set in the plc and must changeable to, so a textlist is not a option I think. Greats, Dennis

I can offer you an example for that with a little workarround, a textlist or combobox on RT works not this way they're static lists. but you can use a multiplex tag for that. regards Aranel

The Body Posts: 836 Rating: (71)	First create two tags at your project. The first one is a string (data type) with a length of, for instance, 25. The prefix-adress (DB) of this tag is your DB in the PLC, the suffix-adress (DBB) is set to multiplexed. The multiplexed suffix-adress is your second tag, datatype is 'INT', a connection to the PLC is not reqired (internal tag). Now create an IO-field what shows the string tag, of course with the same length (25). Create two additional buttons to increase/decrease the value of the internal tag. Beware of the header of a string tag of two bytes. For the first button set the function 'IncreaseValue', Value is 28 (because of the header). For thesecond button set the function 'DecreaseValue', Value is also 28. For the INT-tag set a lower limit of 0 in its properties, otherwise the operator may set the suffix-adress below 0.

Ddejong Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	I have already made it this way. The problem is that the customer wants to select a ship by scrolling down the names and look at them. Just like a real combobox, so when you click the pulldown button you see for example 10 shipnames and if you scroll down and up you go through the different names and select the one you want. They even want the names to be presented in alphabetic order. Is this possible? Maybey by making a index.txt file or so?

You can modify the recipe view to a combo box - deactivate the most options of the recipe view and you get an "Combo box". You can add the items dynamicly via a system function from a csv file. Bye

Or you create a own "recipe" by usingDatablocks which are deposited in the plc. So you have to copy the IO-field 8 times, half of them comes above the first IO-field, the other ones beneath. The copied fields have to set to output only, their index tags must be increased (beneth fields) or even decreases (above fields). .So each index tag for the also copied string-tags has to differ by the value compared to the others. Make them only visible, if the IO-field is activated. If the index tags gets a value below zerow, the concerned outputfields must also be hided. Ddejong They even want the names to be presented in alphabetic order. This has to be done by the PLC.
