You can try to call the WriteDatalog-function in cyclic OB every 10ms. But I'm not sure if writing the log is asynchronous and take maybe longer then 10ms. Why you need the value logged so often? Is there a possibility for less values?

Is there a minimum update time to the data log? To log data that fast, you'll need something that runs every 10 ms, adds the value to a buffer of values, and after around a hundred of those values are saved, copy the buffer to a temporary DB,reset the original buffer's index, store the tempory buffer DB data, then reset the the temporary buffer. Depending on the time, you might need to store 200 values, or have multiple buffers and store them all at once. To find the optimal time to store large amounts of data will take some development time but a couple of hours should get a fairly decent approach. You will start filling up your storage (memory card?) fairly quickly unless you are then dispatching/sending to a computer or some other system for long term storage or processing. If you need to statistics on the data, you will probably want to do as much as possible outside the PLC to keep PLC scan time low.

The S7-1200 is connected to a external PC with a network connection ofTCP/IP. Is it possibleto copy the log files from the PLC to a external PCwithout the use of the Web Server? Through a scriptthe data logs from the PLC memory or SD card must be copied to a location on the external PC. Is the location where log files are storedon the PLC protected? Need an examble of automate the copy action of the data log from PLC to an external PC.

LearnSiemens Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I have run into this issue of getting the datalog files without using the webserver as well. I used a powershell script to do this automatically every day at the end of the day. The powershell script can be called via the Task Scheduler, and it stores the downloaded .csv file to a location on a computer connected to the network. Let me know if you need the code to do this, I can send it to you.
