I am going to use FC in my PLC program, in my project have multiple valves with same function, now i wanna create a FC what can control valve and i use timer for alarm ( if vale is not closed/open in 5s then ...).

Please some examples!!

Hello Tavi,

you can use e.g. TON, please look at the attachment.

If you set the output TRUE and your Sensor for open is FALSE then start your timer. After 5 s in this state your output of the thimer is true and you can set a alarm.

I would use FB and not FC, becuase you need for every timer a DB and you can work at FB with multi instances, it's easier.

if you want to know how an instruction will work you can use the TIA Information System.

For the Timers there are helpful descriptions with Diagrams, so you can see how it wil work.

There is a trick

if You are using FCs for your small tasks you can link all data which needs memory to

IN/OUT arguments and then when FC is called link these to a STAT or DB.

Timer can be treated in the same way i.e. declare it in in/out and use as normal.

if FC us used just once link the Timer to an instance data block.
