Auto Start Problem with Client station

G2481 Posts: 31 Rating: (0)	Hi All, I am using WinCC V6.2 SP2 server-client system. I facing problem to put client system in auto start through Siemens Autostart facility. It's work fine with server station & stand alone station. When I start client system it shows the progress status but last it shows error message "Error while opening the project Z:\XXX.mcp. Autostart not possible" I map server project on Z drive. Rest of things are working fine. One more question is that in my system server is very slower than client station, is there any wrong setting I made? OR It happens because server get loaded? Thanks in advance. Gaurav

Autostart not possible" Are you trying to start the server project on the client? I would presume that you have a client project which you have downloaded to your client machine. It is this project you have to start. You can't use the server project from another machine as client.

G2481 Posts: 31 Rating: (0)	Actually I define clients in my server project & I map server project locationto each client system & opening that project from client station. I am new to server client system. If I made some mistakes then please give me guideline. Thanks.

Fatso Posts: 168 Rating: (6)	Hi Just as runis said the recommended way is to define your client in the project.Then assign OS server to the client in your project on the Engineering station.When that is done you download your client project to the client machinethe same way you download theOS project to theOS server.From there you canlink thelocal project on the client machine to auto start.The following link explains step by step what to do: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19353091

G2481 Posts: 31 Rating: (0)	Thanks, When I map server project directly on my defiend client station & run that project with Simatic shell by click on Interconnect option on running server project it works satisfactory but I facing only problem to Auto start projecton client station. Yesterday Icreate another client station project on my client station & load XXX.pck file into Client staion. I also define start screen & rest of settings in startup window in computer properties.WhenI put client station in runtime, it showing only start up screen if I click on any another configure button to switchover from one screen to another it not functioning. Can I copy all server screens in client station? OR Is there any setting which I forgot to enable? Waiting for reply.

I see you have loaded the client package on the client, that's a good start. Is your server connection active? You can check this by selecting in WinCC explorer (on the client): "Tools > Status of Server connections". Can you see the name of your areas on the top? Are they greyed out? Have you configured your login user with all user rights (do this in user administration) How about if you use the picture select option in runtime, are you able to see the pictures from your server and open them from there? Remeber you have to select the server package. G2481 Can I copy all server screens in client station? WinCC reads all process pictures directly from the server so this is not necessary. R.

G2481 Posts: 31 Rating: (0)	Thanks for reply, I was created client project & import server.pck file. I checked for server connection & it show healthy green signal but when I checked for client connection in server it shows grey out not green. When I open client project it doesn't ask any user login & password which I already configured in Server project. It directly goes into run mode & only shows start screen which was defined in computer startup menu. I think I forgot something. If possible can you give me step by step guideline, please.. Thanks

Fatso Posts: 168 Rating: (6)	Hi G2481 The users and passwords you created on the server you need manually create them again on the client project again. -On the engineering station open Wincc explorer on the client project. -Open user administrator and create the same users you created on the OS server and assign the same passwords -Then open OS editor and select the correct layout(resolution and number of monitors etc) -Select Server data,the date and time stamp should be the same as the one on your OS server -After making sure that all settings are correct download the client project to the client machine if you really follow the steps outlined in the following link everything should work fine. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19353091 also look at "WinCC Information System" under "Content > Configuration > Multi-user systems > Server configuration > Configure clients in the server project".

Which screen have you defined here? Is it @SCREEN.PDL? It should be set to this because it opens a lot of system files. If you have changed this to have your own startup screen you should change it back to @SCREEN.PDL and instead follow this post for changing startup screen. R.
