You are correct in your assumption that power cables should be kept at a distance from Profibus cabling, even if the Profibus cable is properly grounded and earthed.

That being said, you should also check the diagnostic buffer of your PLC (if it is a Siemens S7, you guive no make or  model information) for details of the affected nodes.

Thank you for the response, I very much appreciate it. So the error and hardware info are the following:

S-7 300 Module: CPU 319F-3 PN/DP

"PB Slave 12, PB system 1: Failure   .... Name: B-32DI   DP

Event ID: 16#38B3

"I/O access error when updating the process image input table outgoing"

Requested OB = program execution error OB (OB85)

Process image partition no. 0 .....   Priority class: 26

External error, outgoing event

..The program suggests some remedies, but why exactly is the error happening? And also how do I check affected nodes? Again thank you!
