Hi,all sorry if this is covered elsewhere, I have looked.

Currently trying to move an existing WinCC7.3 on Windows 2008 server R2 standard to a new server while upgrading to WinCC 7.4  - New server is Windows Sever 2016 Standard X64.

Installed WinCC 7.4 and copied and installed the original project to it.

We now have it running in demo mode as we need the original to keep working until the new one is working properly.

The Modbus tcp/ip is working but we also have TCP/IP direct to a number of S7-300 PLCs.

I can ping the PLCs from the new machine but can't connect to them through WinCC.

Things I have tried,

Setting up the interface through Control Panel - PG/PC interface.

Tried all variations of existing options.

Tried creating a new Access Point Name using the ethernet card addres (Not the "Auto" option)

In WinCC

Made sure the logical device is pointing to the Access Point Name set in PG/PC.

Along with a number of other attempts.

All without any success, no communications via TCP/IP.

Can anyone help, please.

Think you might be right, thanks for getting me to check.

When we bought the WinCC Upgrade, it came with two disks, WinCC and Simatic NET.

The Simatic NET disk won't install on Server 2016 so I assumed everything we needed was in the new version of WinCC.

It appears we need to download Simatic NET V14 SP1 !!! The disk supplied isn't SP1 :(

I'll give that a go and see what happens.

It was exactly this!!

The supplied Simatic NET DVDs didn't cover Server 2016, but you do need them!!

You need to download Simatic NET V14 SP1, Not V15 this isn't for WinCC.

This would be very easy if there were simple instructions about this, I wasted a lot of time trying to sort this out.

Did you instal step 7 also on the old server?

if yes then you don’t need SIMATIC net licence and you can setup more than 8 connections.
