when you tip on the IO field the numpad does not open?

Did you specify the IO field as input/output and link a tag to it? A screenshot or photo might help to understand your problem.

How do I enter a value into an i/o field on a kp300 basic hmi ?

The KTP has touch screen facility but the KP rely only on the physical buttons.

The TAB and/or arrow keys are used to navigate the highlight cursor between active elements on the page. The active elements can be an IO FIELD or even a BUTTON (yes: a touch button?!). Pressing the enter key will activate the active element. In the case of an IO FIELD, the entry becomes possible.

Making an entry is done with the 10 function keys. In the case of text, pressing a key more than once will cycle through the possible alpha-numeric character combinations.

In simulation of the HMI, most HMI-buttons can be clicked on with the mouse. The same functionality is achieved as on the actual device. The TAB key is not available; pressing TAB on your keyboard works. Using the PC keyboard for the simulation is possible.

There is an alternative is to connect a PC keyboard to the USB outlet of the HMI device. I have a cordless keyboard-mouse that I can use on the HMIs. This is very convenient when there is no response from the keys / touch of the HMI.
