I have 4 tp1500 comfort panels located at different positions . I am using standard PC with windows 10 as time source/server. The comfort panels are at varying distance from time source. Maximum distance between PC and comfort panel is 2 km. I would like to know whether the varying distance will effect time synchronization. I am using profibus for communication.

you are going to have only a Profibus connection between PC (time master) and Comfort Panels (time slaves)? I doubt that you can synchronize time between the devices directly then. If I'm wrong please post your solution with referencing documentation.

Either you can synchronize time from PC to PLC and from PLC to Comfort Panels via Profibus. Or the more common way, you use an Ethernet connection between PC and Comfort Panels and use NTP synchronization.

I am using NTP. I don't want to do synchronization via PLC.

Is that possible?

NTP sounds good. Might be an option to synchronize the PLC from the PC, too. Then you have the same time on all devices.

But Profibus is not an option then.

In my opinion you must not worry about distances with NTP synchronization.
