HI - I am using 8 Free Function blocks in an S110. All blocks are configured as Group 0 and it all works fine when the sampling rate is set p20000[0] = [6] x T giving a 1.5 ms sampling time. However if I try to go lower to either 1.25ms or 1.00 ms I have problems:

- When on-line, there is a several second delay after pressing enter in Starter to parameter p20000[0] to either [5] x (1.25 ms sampling) or [4] x (1.00 ms sampling). Unusual, but not a problem.

- The S110 operates okay, but when I try to Upload the configuration to PG, the upload takes longer then normal then terminates with the drive tripping on fault 1054

- Alternatively, when downloading a configuration with either a 1.25 ms or 1.00 ms setting, the download finishes okay, but then the S110/Starter hangs when copying RAM to ROM.

I am using Starter 4.5.1.5

I have found one other thread with the same RAM to ROM hang, but it was never resolved.

The additional decrease in sampling time from 1.5 ms to 1.0 ms would be quite beneficial in my application.

Do you use the basic positioner?

Thanks Zako - I'm fairly new to SIEMENS kit, but I assume you mean upgrade to an S120 or S150. However, looking though the List manual for the S120 it didn't have a list/description of Free Function blocks as does the S110 List manual.

Yes with S120 (CU310-2PN) you have free blocks too.

But there is DCC also available - so graphical.

Further you can use MATLAB SIMULINK or own written C/C++ logic (but this is for experts).

Hi Andy, whilst S120 does have the ability to use FFB's, the official Siemens response is that it is not tested/verified for use with S120.

As Zako states, the preferred method is via DCC or other custom built blocks.
