Hi all

I am using TIA v15.1 and a TP900 Comfort HMI

I am using the HMI to log alarms and for other data logging, I'm saving to USB as a CSV file.

When I open the CSV file in excel all the data is there but it's not lade out correctly. Please see screen shot. 

It is basically putting it all in one columns with semi colons in-between.

Files generated on the TP panel are normal. Different characters can be used as a separator in the CSV file. Excel recognizes the delimiter based on the regional settings of Windows. You need to go into the settings of the control panel and set ";".

You can also import data into Excel (Data -> Import from text). When importing data, Excel will ask about the delimiter used in the file.

Hi Konstantin could you or anyone else please elaborate, as I am still struggling with this problem.

I have tried looking throw the HMI setting and can't find anything.

I have looked at importing data from text in excel, there are a lot of options I have tried some of them with no look. 

Can anyone please give me some more information please?

I have had similar problems Gouldharry and actually find other considerable problems with the log files created by the HMI. One thing I have found, my data includes real values and, in accordance with the European standard, uses commas as the decimal separator. This causes floating point data to be in different cells when you open the file in Excel – before you have even run the text to columns utility. If you then use the text to columns utility it deletes all the data in subsequent columns (it does warn you that it is going to do that but there is nothing you can do about it). The solution I have found that works well is first to open the log file in a pure text editor and do a search and replace on commas replacing them with decimal points. Then open the resulting file in Excel and use the text to columns utility with semi-colon as the only field separator. That still doesn’t give a perfect result, there are other problems but they may not apply to you. So I thought it was worth just giving you that little tip that I have found.

Thanks for looking and getting back to me both solutions from Konstantin worked for me, I did have some LReal values in the data log. I have since converted them to Dint in my program as I don't need the decimal place in my data log.
