On my system, I have a servo-drive 6SL3210-5FE11 and a motor 1FL6052-1AC61-0LG1.

This means that I have an Absolute encoder 20 bit + 12 bit multi-turn.

Everytime I make a Power-Off, the "G-XIST1 Encoder actual position r0482" s lost.

And at power-on, the value of this parameter is near to 0.

How I can do that the absolute encoder value is saved and back to r0482 on power-on?

In the past, I placed a potentiometer on the axis of the screw. (Maybe you remember the BOURNS of 10 laps). Obviously, the readed position was not affected if the tension was cut off.

But it seems to me that the absolute encoder is not exactly what is meant by an absolute, which delivers the signal according to the angle of rotation. It looks more like an incremental encoder with an associated electronics to make an absolute encoder substitute.

The result is that we have to make a HOME movement every time the equipment is connected to the power supply.

And, I can not do this HOME function. What I need is for the absolute encoder to always know where it is.

Then, the question is if it is posible.

Hello,

if the motor has an absolute encoder it can remember the position after switching off / on. If your load is doing a linear movement over more than one encoder rotation of course it should be a multiturn absolute encoder. If it is "only" a singleturn absolute encoder, the encoder after switching off knows only the correct position within one encoder revolution. 

Please also note that you manually need to do an absolute encoder adjustment. The absolute encoders don't remember their position when no encoder adjustment was done. And after the adjustment was done, you need to save the position offset retentively by copying Ram to Rom as I said.
