Communication to IM151-8F PN/DP CPU

general84 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	I have a new IM151-8F PN/DP CPU that i wish to connect to but it does not come up in 'display accessible nodes'. I have PG/PC interface set to TCP/IP (auto), firewall switched off. My pc is set to use ip address 192.168.0.30 with subnet mask 255.255.0.0. The plc has connected on another pc where i was able to set an IP address for it (192.168.0.20). I can ping the plc from my pc and onced pinged i can use 'arp - a' in cmd.exe to see its MAC address. I can also connect through the plc as a switch. Somehow step 7 does not pick up that the plc is there when I know it is. Any ideas? Need any more info? Thank you gen84

general84 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	hi, I have tried with TCP/IP, TCP/IP (auto) and ISO Ind. Ethernet settings in PG/PC It turns out i can download and monitor online to the siemens on the known IP address but it still doesn't appear in accessible nodes. I had not tried downloading as i figured Step 7 had not seen the plc. So i can program this plc for its application. This means i can program the plc but i cannot configure it new when no IP is assigned, thus this is still a problem for me. gen84

Why do no PROFINET components appear in the primary setup tool or in STEP 7 -Display Accessible Nodes-? http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/23585653 If this doesn't work i would suggest to open a Service Request at the hotline.

general84 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Problem solved. I had "PROFINET IO RT-Protocol (LLDP)" installed but not "PROFINET IO RT-Protocol". Now with both installed the plc is recognised. Thanks mate
