How can I use wincc faceplates from PCS7 in an stand alone plc-hmi project?

razoh Posts: 81 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have been working with wincc in a pcs7 project and now I need to use the same or similar faceplates in a different project (s7-300 +Panel PC677B). I have been reading manuals but I am still confused. As far as I know, faceplates in PCS7 are associated with a CFC, thats the way the system know which faceplate has to open when you click on an icon. But in my new system, I can create the faceplate using faceplate designer, but when I finish with the graphics, I do not know how to pop up the faceplate when clicking on the icon. For example what shallI write in the property server name? I was trying to find any tutorial or same to follow step by step the process but I dind't found anything. Can anybody advice me a manual or something to follow. Thanks

Hi razoh, Let me try to clear some of the confusion... A faceplate has nothing to do with CFC, rather it is linked to a block type. A block type is a function block (for example MOTOR)which will becalled again and again with a new instance. WinCC does not care whether the function block was created in PCS7 using SCL or in S7 using LAD. As long as you are able to compile and create a structured WinCC tag you are good. razoh ...But in my new system, I can create the faceplate using faceplate designer, but when I finish with the graphics, I do not know how to pop up the faceplate when clicking on the icon. For example what shallI write in the property server name? ... Property server name will be name of the function block (block type). How you open the faceplate is defined in the block icon (just like in PCS7)! Since you have faceplate designer, the ground work for building a faceplate is easily done. My suggestion is, try with a small example function block (like C = A + B). Also, study the PCS7 more closely and you'll understand much better. Regards

I hace created a faceplate with the faceplate designer, it has two input fields.The faceplate is called Test. 2º I have a FB in my s7-300 with two inputs and one output with just the code A+B=C 3º In one screen of my Scada, I have a rectangle with and output field inside. I want to pop up my faceplate when I left-click on the rectangle and introduce the values A and B in the faceplate. Finally I want to show the result in my block icon. Ok,I create the Tags A,B,C in Tag Management and now, I link those variables to my block icon. Now problems start. The object name of my block icon is REC1, then I hace definied the variables in Tag management as REC1.A, REC1.B and REC1.C. I link REC1.C with the output field of the block icon but now I think I am wrong. Because I suppose I need to do something with my tags to allow the block icon to link with the specific tags when I create a new one for example REC2. I am stressed Also I dont know how to link the tags in the faceplate and how to pop up the faceplate I need to read manuals again I anybody can help me, I am in a hurry...... Thanks

I am stressed ... Hi razoh, I think you are not only stressed, you are confused too! But the good news is, you are on the right track! Try to understand the concept of tag prefix and tag sufix. For example in the tag REC2.C, REC2 is the prefix and C is the sufix. For every block icon you create, you can type in the prefix or you can use the dynamic wizard to populate the proper prefix. In the faceplates the tags should be only with the sufix. The prefix is substituted by the script. razoh ...I dont know how to link the tags in the faceplate and how to pop up the faceplate ... In PCS7 the faceplate is opened by the script PCS7_OpenGroupDisplay. You need to create an equivalent script. And my friend, most important: nothing can be accomplished in a hurry! Regards

Yesterday I stopped and spent the whole day reading manuals again but this time relaxed. Of course the concept that was confusing me was suffix and preffix but there is nothing about that in the wincc manual that I have read (wincc getting started). In my project, I need motors, valves, PID's etc...like in PCS7 but with step7, and I want to create an standard block for each one with a faceplate associated. I didn't understand why if you have two motors A and B when you call the faceplate in the faceplate you have the right data for A. With the concept of prefix and suffix, I undertand it. When I create the tags I define MotorA.AUTO, MotorA.MANUAL, MotorB.AUTO, MotorB.MANUAL. Then in the faceplate I have created with the faceplate designer, I assign the tags .AUTO and .MANUAL only the suffix. And in the field tag name I write MotorA or MotorB. I just need to create the function to open the faceplate in runtime like in PCS7. I think now(finally) I am right Thanks for your help
