We are having PCS7 v8.1 SP1 and in our system we have one server equiped with Open PCS7.

On this server we also have a OPCAE client. We don't have any problems in getting our alarms and events this way.

Due to the desire to use a different Alarm handling system, we are trying to build a second server with Open PCS7, leaving the working one undisturbed.

So far we haven't been able to reproduce the working one on a new server.

The question came to mind: Is it possible to have two Open PCS7 servers simultaniously in the same PCS7 infrastructure?

We are not able to connect the OPCAEclient to the PCS7.OPCAEServer.1 on the second machine.

We are getting the following message:

Failed to connect to server ‘PCS7.OPCAEServer.1)’ (HR = 80004005)

1. A TCP/IP problem: the port isn't available/ free or the firewall makes some restrictions?

2. The windows user of the client has a wrong configuration: the windows user has restricted/ no rights on the server?

3. Perhaps this is a licensing problem?

You need a licence on each computer where a OPC A&E server is running (see below the quote):

Two licenses are available for OpenPCS 7. The licenses for the OpenPCS 7 station are license

keys that must be transferred directly to the machine on which the OpenPCS 7 station runs

using the Automation License Manager. A license is required for each OpenPCS 7 station.

The licenses for the OpenPCS 7 station are single licenses. This means that a license server

cannot be used for OpenPCS 7.
