I am making a migration of a frequency inverter drive from CONTROL TECHNIQUES brand, it has connected an asynchronous motor 380VAC 2,2KW with a TTL incremental encoder of 500ppr. I purchased a sinamics g120, a PM240-2 and a cu250s, the application has a special functionality because when there is an energy cut off the motor moves for two seconds to prevent damages on the machine, when I program my frequency inverter drive from Siemens I can not get the same behaviour so I investigated a little and I found the option to Enable Vdc_min regulator and kinetic backup but it does not work properly, On the last days I saw the frequency inverter drive from CONTROL TECHNIQUES had a capacitors bank connected to its DC bus, I suppose that they are a reservoir of voltage and it helps when there is an energy cut off. I would like to know if I can do the same thing with the PM240-2 from Siemens. (Can I connect the capacitors bank to the DC bus of my inverter?) Please if someone can help me I will be grateful. zako_ Gold Member Joined: 5/22/2012 Last visit: 3/24/2022 Posts: 895 Rating: (67)	If you need a energy buffering, the official components is using booksize (or Chassis devices) with an own infeed. For that capacitor Modules- even ultracapacitors are possible. If you want to do it in your own risk, you can use your existing capacitormodules in they are released for the DC link voltage, take a resistor approx. 500 Ohm and an antiparrallel Diode on DCP. There you can Connect the capacitors. Do you know the existing capacity? But as mentioned, this wouldn't be the official solution! ... ans what is the Effekt with Vdc Controller? Maybe you can increase your inertia?

Attached you can see two electrical drawings, the first one is a KEB frequency inverter drive with capacitors, the second one is a Control Techniques. We were replacing the frequency inverters when any is damaged and I have installed a Siemens one, but I have had problems when there is a energy cut off because the machine has a not wanted behavior. So the only thing that I need to do is to connect the capacitors bank, but I am not sure if I can do it with Siemens G120. Finally, Could you please, make a lillte drawing about your design? Andrés_Ariza Experienced Member Joined: 9/3/2014 Last visit: 2/13/2025 Posts: 79 Rating: (4)	I have another idea and I would like to share it with you, I am thinking of buying a higher power module, the motor is of 2,2kw so if I purchase a 7,5 kw power module I can get some energy to make the backup when there is an energy cut off. Am I right? If that is possible, do I need to do some special parameterization? or only by the hardware the application could work?

So I Suppose there is sth not so perfekt in your parametrization. So contact the customer Support- the best with your project and traces - for example r63, r70, r46, r80... Have you set p1300=21?

So I Suppose there is sth not so perfekt in your parametrization. -> Probably yes, but I am not sure what is missing or wrong. So contact the customer Support- the best with your project and traces - for example r63, r70, r46, r80... Have you set p1300=21? -> Of course, in fact I did the speed controller optimization with encoder. I would like to try your idea "take a resistor approx. 500 Ohm and an antiparrallel Diode on DCP" but if it is posible please to have a drawing about the connection to avoid any damage.
