Hello, 

I have WinCC (WinCC 7.2) server project and 8 clients (without a project)

If I want (from time to time) to make a backup (with windows zip command) of a server project should I also stop clients runtimes and close WinCC Explorer on them, or I can just stop and close server project, make an archive and start it again without stopping clients?

Closing 8 clients is anoying, but they are connected to the catalog with server project, so what is the proper procedure?

You can make backups of your server project without stopping anything! You just need to install FreeFileSync (Open Source software, available for Windows, macOS, and Linux) and make sure that your Volume Shadow Copy service (Windows) is running.

Thank you very much for the information.

I usually use this software but sometimes i have some problems with tagmanegement becasue some tags were missing after copy. Anyway, I didnt check the service Volume Shadow Copy (Windows) so maybe it will solve this problem (I used as provisional (daily) backup).

I just enabled "copy locked files" in freefilesync.
