Split from what is telegram in drive.

Hello Silver;

In the case we are discussing, telegrams are structured data echanged between  a controller and a drive over a network, such as Profibus or Profinet.

If you use digital or analog signals from the controller as command sets to a drive, telegrams do not come into play.

How does this apply if instead of a profibus connection between the PLC and drive i simply use digital I/O and a 0-10v analog signal for the speed reference?

With simple digital I/O & analog signal, user can run the drive but can establish only limited  communication, e.g. user can set comand, exchange reference set point, etc. etc.

But with network user can specify/select the telegram & collect/exchange information between controller (PLC) & drive like, drive speed, acutal motor current, actual motor temp., actual torque, actual position, if 2 encoders configured, can collect infomation of both encoders, etc. etc. in much faster  time.  Also in network all this information can be collected remotely & automation task is handled in much easier way.
