For Standard Blocks/Faceplates it is much harder to determine/change the individual operating permissions since the security is daisy chained through the faceplate objects. For APL with PCS 7 V7.1 the following FAQ details the default user adminstrative settings for all of the different blocks/faceplates: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/60575347: How do user rights (authorizations) work in SIMATIC PCS 7 V7.1? For APL in PCS 7 V8.0, the User Rights have been moved from the Faceplate to the block (as OP_Level attribute). This OP_Level attribute is available for viewing and editing from Process Object View (POV) Parameter tab (required Block I/O to be enable for POV by setting Parameter flag). Note: APL uses levels 1 through 5. By default the APL Levels correspond to WinCC User Administrative levels as follows: APL Level 1 <---> WinCC Level 5 APL Level2 <---> WinCC Level 6 APL Level3 <---> WinCC Level 1100 APL Level4 <---> WinCC Level 1101 (PCS 7 V8.0 or Later) APL Level5 <---> WinCC Level 1102 (PCS 7 V8.0 or Later) cabreytj

For example...you have twoPID blocks, one from standard library, other from apl. You wantto change a parameter which needs authorization. ForPID in normal library assignnumber 5,to change a parameter of the apl pid , you use number 6.
