S120/CU310-DP Gearing to master axis

This conveyor will need to be electronically "geared" to another conveyor, which will serve as the master. The conveyor will need to be homed to a synchronous position via proximity sensor and then follow the master after input from another proximity sensor. Can this be done with the CU310-DP and external incremental encoder on the master? Is this possible without DCC charts, as I do not have CFC installed, only Simotion Scout.

Technology Team Platinum Expert Joined: 10/11/2006 Last visit: 1/21/2026 Posts: 6072 Rating: (828)	Hello, with only a S120 drive (without DCC), it is not possible to synchronize properly to an external encoder. In case you don't want to use DCC you could also use a SIMATIC S7-1500T CPU.

The machine has an existing CPU315-2DP which I must use to control the function. Which is the proper license I will need to accomplish this task within Sinamics?

Technology Team Platinum Expert Joined: 10/11/2006 Last visit: 1/21/2026 Posts: 6072 Rating: (828)	Hello, for the DCC synchronism you need at least FW 5.1 and a DCB extension runtime license that is valid for the whole S120 drive: MLFB 6SL3077-0AA00-0AB0 Additionally, an Engineering license for DCC is necessary. The license can be used after the synchronism project for other DCC projects again. Is it possible to use the D410-2 with a CUA32 adapter to connect an external drive-cliq absolute encoder? I already have a CUA32 and block size power module.
