Hi,

there is two ways:

1 - if you use HSC, you can configure the CPU to read directly frequency (type of counting). Multiply the read value (frequency) per 60, and you will be rpm.

2 - Counting pulses by OB1 or also by HSC: Read the pulses in a cycle OB (e.g.OB200). Calcule the difference between actual counting and the last OB call counting. Then divide these "delta counting" per the cycle OB time (e.g. 100ms) and multiply it per 60.

1 - I think you need something more. The HSC input on the PLC gives you the frequency of the pulses, not the frequency of the rotation. So, I think you need also the resolution of the encoder to take the rpm of the rotation. Freq / Resolution * 60sec = rpm.

Please reply if I'm wrong.

I found something that goes wrong on TIA Portal V13 SP1. When I try to enable the HSC1 normally must change automatically also the DI0.0 and DI0.1 input filter value in order to read the high speed counting. TIA Portal V13 SP1 never did it. You must manually goes to set the input filter.
