mef3000 Posts: 81 Rating: (1)	hi all; i know the conditions to run several motors with one inverter.but i wana use two motors with one inverter a bit diffrent.in pic it s showed.i wana drive motors in a order like i ll run first motor then after certains hours i ll stop driver seperate first motor with contactors then connect second motor with contactors and will run second motor.motors are same.since i ll use one motor so i think i dont need a bigger inverter. but should i use v/f operating mode or SVC .or what else i should care in such operation. Hi mef3000, I prefer you to have a look on the previous FAQ. The precautions you need to take care has been described in the linkhere Controlling motors have been discussed in thelink1&link2 I also need to suggest one more point to this. If the VFD gets failed, then you wont be able to run any of the motor. Hence, if these motor have a critical application please take care of a by-passing contactor to VFD. rgds, RBM

IBN-Service Posts: 8946 Rating: (1000)	You are right, mef. You dont need different parameter - settings. Just take care, that you do an interlock between both contactors, so that just one is energized at the same time.

How do I use different parameter sets with the MM440/MM430? Best regards. You are wrong, Ayman Elotaify. Mef3000 told us, that the motors are the same / have the same size. So there is no bigreason for different parameter-sets. Exept, the cable - length and / or the application is very different.

Since you can set the maximum current rating in VFD itself, there is no need for an overload protection after contactors. If the parameters are correct and if the VFD is set to deliver only 100% of Full load current, then it there wont be any chance of increase in current beyond the FL current. rgds, RBM

If the motors do not have an additional cooling and do run with low speed at high load, it is a *must* to have some thermic protection! If the motor is running with 100% current, but with low RPM, the the internal cooling fan can not cool down the motor in a sufficent way! If there is no additional cooling, a protection is necessarily!

I think the role of overload will be done by the VFD itself. But for overheating issues, the thermistor connection from motor to VFD is to be done to be on safer side. Hello mef3000, As you are going to run one motor at a time on VFD, and your both motors are identical and selection of motor completrly hardwire, all I have to say is you can use SVC or V/f or whatever your application want. Your case is not actualy case of multimotor so everything like control mode and protection and all other things will be same like for single motor. No need of dataset change over or no need for seperate overload protection. Now as discussed by IBN-Service, you can provide thermistor protection for safer side. Just make sure your contactor must have cross interlocks and main thing, dont operate contactor while drive is runnning, because it may damage your motor or drive. Always operate output contactor when VFD is off (Pulse Disabled) Regards, Devesh Vithani
