Hi all,

I have two identical profibus networks on cpu 1516f-3 / 6es7 516-3fn01-0ab0 fw 2.8.3

Both networks have the 3 Sick devices each and a prosoft ps69-dps module to exchange data with an Allen Bradley plc.

The prosoft is acting weird.

If I'm offline from TIA the connection is healthy, when I connect to the PLC using TIA the prosoft node keeps dropping off the network instantly and then recovers comms immediately, only to drop again.

I've tried temporarily cabling etc, played with all the settings on siemens side, but no luck.

Has anyone run into a similar problem?

I tried TIA 15.1 and TIA 16, the problem is the same and happens with 4 different laptops.

sry, can you pls draw simple chart about networks/devices? Put there also DP addresses and also what speed is set as PB network. I see probably problem at that Prosoft module, there are some diag possibilities, did you check them (diag, whatchdog, ...)? If you connect with TIA I expect occupy some address also so check of unique addresses is mandatory. How you did connection to TIA Online, via which interface? Try check if something isn't outside of existing cfg, also terminators on DP are used? If yes, draw positions and state on that chart, then we can maybe help further but I expect for first diagnose that Prosoft module, it has probably some problem, you need test it with TIA Online enabled of course.. 

Network speed is 12Mpbs , but I have tried all speeds without any results. 

All addresses are unique and I have tried different address to the problematic node. 

PLC has address 2 , and the node with the problem is 10 (but have tried multiple addresses) the other nodes are 11,12,13. 

Prosoft module that has the problem supports DPV1 and DPV0 , but the vendor of the device says we should only use it as DPV0 and this is what we have configure it to. The vendor claims that when we go online to the PLC  , we potentially send DPV1 messages that the can't reply. This is not confirmed because they have not run diagnostics on the prosoft yet. 

The rest of the PB nodes are always healthy , no matter the network settings. 

TIA connects to PLC through X2 on Ethernet. Cabling is ok, we have tested temp cables, different plugs etc.

I should start by saying I have no direct experience with the PS69-DPS you are using, but i have worked with te MVI56-PDP Profibus comm processors for the Controllogix platform, with both Siemens and other brand PLCs as DP masters. I have never encountered this type of problem with these Prosoft modules.

What comes to mind is the error message you are facing,"Data record read error", appears to be a DPV1 message, as DPV0 does not support read/write of data records. only cyclic data exchanges.

The attached screenshot seems to support this, a read error message is only available on DPV1.in the PS69-DPS manual from Prosoft. I can imagine that the DPV0 slave you have configured in the S7 Profibus master has been configured as a DPV1 slave in the Compactlogix CPU. Can you check if this is a viable scenario?

One suggestion: I have always found that Prosoft is very helpful when a user faces problems of this kind with one of their comm modules. You could try contacting their support and ask for hints and solutions. Provide them at least with the screenshots you prepared, and if possible the Compactlogix configuration, so thay can examine both sides of this situation.
