Hi, i have a similar problem...

i´m trying to comunicate via profibus a kuka robot with a S7-1200 (CM1242-5) via profibus.

my configuration doesn´t work.

I configure a profibus connection and area transfer in the cm1242-5... 

the led DIAG is switch off and the led of RUN/STOP is in amber, the PLC diagnosis show me the next message:  

existing module.

faulty.

led error(SF).

can somebody help me?

hope you understand for first, who is Master and who Slave here (Robot/PLC). You have set module to PLC which can work only as Slave. Is this cfg expected? If yes, you need cfg all in Kuka to correctly read/write data from/to S7-1200. 

oh sorry, my master is going to be the robot and the slave the S7-1200, for this reason i use the CM1242-5.

The robot is a kuka, with KSS 8.6.4 (KRC4) it has installed a ethercat coupler so i installed a EL6731 master module (profibus).

i did the next configurations (robot side).

1. Introduce the GSD of the CM in the master 
2. configure the first slot of CM as output (byte)
3. set the slave profibus addres: 2

then in tia portal V16

1. create the project with the s7-1200 and CM
2. in the properties of CM create a area transfer
3. set a profibus connection
4. put a "virtual" master (another PLC with DP)  if i don´t put this plc i can´t upload the configuration to the s7-1200...

after this changes the robot shaw me that the adress 2 cannot be found.

PLC leds

1. run: amber
2. error: blinking

Cm leds

1. DIAG: green
2. RUN/STOP: amber

yes, then cooperate with that CM module documentation where is desciption about cfg and other useful infos. You need cfg some I/O buffer where data can be exchanged (robot).

i did it but i don´t know if im doing the correct configuration in tia portal (I explained it in my previous post).

ok, pls think that my link is only another tip what is required to do for correct functionality of Slave, many cfg are required due your HW cfg and memory occupy. You can also find here on Forum some examples with configuring S7-1200 CM Slave module. Read documentation about that CM, again.
