S7-1200 communicate with Multi Function Meter

Riyasa Joined: 10/3/2023 Last visit: 8/20/2025 Posts: 53 Rating: (0)	Hi experts, I have a S7-1200 plc and two Multi function meter(Ziegler mfm 3430). I need to communicate with Rs485 and i have CM1241 module. I connected the RS485 like daisy chain connection. Also, In PLC program I used MB_COMM_LOAD and MB_MASTER for the each multi function meters. Also, I changed the address in MFM and in the MB_MASTER Block. But, only one multi function is communicated and other one is not communicating. Kindly, tell me How to communicate the both multi function meters and which block i need to use?

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 9/4/2025 Posts: 12397 Rating: (2717)	Hello Riyassa; Let's start by clearing up the possible hardware issues: - what is the part number for the CP 1241 you are using in this project; - can you confirm that the mfm 3430 you have is enabled for Modbus RTU RS485 (it is optional, see the part number breakdown in the image below): is there an R in the part number? Riyasa Joined: 10/3/2023 Last visit: 8/20/2025 Posts: 53 Rating: (0)	My CM1241 module part no is (6es7 241-1ch32-0xb0) and My I am Using Ziegler mfm 3430. Also, I have two mfm in same model. If I communicate separately, they are communicated. But, I need to communicate two mfm with my plc in same time, so i connected my two mfm like daisy chain connection in my cm1241 module and i changed my mfm address(1 and 2). Also, I have doubt in my program, I used MB_comm_load and MB_master for my first MFM address 1. And then, I used another MB_comm_load and MB_master for my another MFM address 2. But, my first MFM is communicated and another one showing (8180 Invalid port ID). So, Can you give me example program to communicate the two MFM? Attachment image.jpeg (111 Downloads)

Perhaps it is worth it for you to have a look at some example code. (https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/47756141/) Link 1 should be very helpful for all the detail that is mentioned. Be sure to focus on the Modbus version. Notice how multiple slaves are handled and how the scheduling works (DONE / ERROR outputs).
