I'm looking for a way to use JavaScript to check whether a removable storage device (such as a USB stick or SD card) is writable on a Unified Comfort HMI device.

Has anyone already implemented this kind of check or knows if it's possible using built-in system functions?

Yes, this is possible!

You just need to use a try-catch block that attempts to create a subfolder on your external storage.
If it succeeds, then your external storage is plugged in. If not, it's not present.

Unfortunately, there are no built-in system functions for this, so you'll have to implement it yourself (but it's very easy).

Hi everyone, 

There is a simple program that I developped about what I said before. It's working as a cyclic Scheduled task.

You just have to adapt it to your instalation, but it works for me. It's a part of english, but some things are in french, so you'll have to translate it.
