thijsee Posts: 35 Rating: (1)	Drivemonitor makes use of drive-databases providing information about existing paramaters in the concerning drive-type and version. Connecting to a Masterdrive Rectifier (CUR V3.2) I get the next message: "Database MDRF version 032 does not exist!" Same with a Masterdrive SC (CU3 V1.0): "Database MDSC version 010 does not exist!" and CUR V3.1. Connecting to known drive-types (in ...\Program Files\SIEMENS\DriveMonitor\P7vrvisx\system\device\) isn't a problem. I use DriveMonitor V5.4, maybe this version is too new!? Does anybody know if and how/from where, it is possible to download/import databases for the concerning drive-types/versions?

nhdrives Experienced Member Joined: 3/29/2006 Last visit: 5/29/2017 Posts: 151 Rating: (8)	In DriveMonitor V5.4 or actual version V5.4 SP2, no other databases are available than the ones provided. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/de/11769381 You can go online and try to learn the database. This is not always working. or you can open the parameterfile with Notepad, change the version in the header to an existing one. So can open an existing parameter-file, of course on basis of the "wrond" database. All those old versions had their own Simovis (forrunner of DriveMonitor) on DOS-basis.

thijsee Posts: 35 Rating: (1)	Thanks for your answer. In Simovis I see (on a file-listing of an previous PG720) a comparable file-structure for drive-types like DriveMonitor. Are these compatible? Both make use of the same file-type: *.dnl Is it possible, I mean not harmfull, to install Simovis on the same PC (Windows XP SP3) as Step7/DriveES Basic/DriveMonitor?

So, Windows XP SP3 is too far... Compatibility between SIMOVIS and DriveMonitor files: It goes without saying that all of the files ( with the .DNL file extension ) which were generated with SIMOVIS can also be processed using DriveMonitor. When opening a SIMOVIS file with the DriveMonitor, the user is prompted to enter some supplementary information. A DNL file, generated by DriveMonitor, cannot be processed using SIMOVIS; the files are only upwards but not downwards compatible. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

thijsee Posts: 35 Rating: (1)	My goal with this question was to backup and restore parameters for some older versions of Masterdrive, e.g: - CUR V3.1, V3.2 - CU3 V1.0 ... I honestly don't like to have to step back to use Simovis... I would appreciate to have the possibility to import the missing/forgotten databases (from Simovis?) to DriveMonitor. Is this a possibility? Or do I have to tell the client Siemens doesn't support this versions and exchange the control units, although the Masterdrive is mature but still serviced by Siemens for the next 10 years?

rumbadoobes Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	it seems like this thread was was ended with the exact ? i'm looking to have answered. we recently installed a printing press with several simovert drives. i'm trying to connect to all of them so we can have a backup parameter set. right now, we have nothing. they were apparently maintained with a pg170 or something like that... i have drivemonitor 5.4sp2. i launch it and while connected serially to a drive i select se tup a uss onlineconnection. the drive is immediately seen. but shows ???? under unit type and version. so then i try to create a new base parameter set based on the unit info i have for the drive: masterdrives vc(cu2) softwareversion 1.3 noof pzd 2 tech type t100_ms100 iclick the icon to go online (write ram) and a box shows up saying that my drive cannot be identified. shows that i have configured it forwith the above info, but it has noinfofor the connecteddevice. there is a button at the bottom of the window for"generate databse" but i can't click on it, itsgreyed out. if i close that window i'm stillonline with my drive, but all the parameters show a value of invalid data.

OK, I have "recently" converted some CU2 (v1.3) with T100 (v1.2) to CUVC on a textile line, and I used Drivemonitor v5.4.2 (via serial rs-232), so there should be no problem there. Confirm using a PMU or OP1S that the firmware version is true (This can be different to the drive label) Check P720=1.3 Check that Access Level P51 > 1 I suppose, check P53 = 6 or 7. Honestly, I had to do nothing else special. I did need to Generate the Database for the T100, but this was not ghosted in my case. Regards, (and luck) Graeme
