We have three drives Siemens MasterDrive CUVC: 250kW (440V, 510A), 75kW (440V, 146A) and 500kW (440V, 856A), all of them connected in two rectifiers of 1023A. In the drive of 250kW has occurred alarm F27 - UCE Ph. L3, and we’ve tried to fix it but it was not possible. Then, we’ve installed another drive separately, temporarily, and we’ve disabled the defective drive.
These MasterDrive CUVC drives already have about 15 years that were installed. Two of them (500kW and 250kW) already had failed (F25/F26/ F27), I think, because the end of IGBTs useful life. The rectifiers have never had any fault, working perfectly in all that time.
I would like to know if it’s possible to install a 250kW Sinamics S120 drive, powered by the DC link of our existing rectifiers, ie, to replace the defective drive MasterDrive that was installed on this DC link, for a Sinamics drive. But, would it be worthwhile still use these rectifiers? Do its semiconductors are also subject to failure due end of life? Which would be the useful life of these semiconductors?

Have you thought that the faults you are having may not be related to the IGBT’s?
It could be possible that the problem is related to the gating of the IGBT’s, considering it is done thru an optic element.

I ask you this, because it happened to me once that I had one of these three faults, and it was related to a loose connection in the Fiber Optics between the electronic box and the gating board. But a loose connection is not the only possible cause of these faults to appear. It could be that because of the age of the drives, the optic elements (either in the E-Box or in the gating unit) are not working properly and have a weak optical signal.

It’s just an idea. I hope it helps you to solve the problem.
