Change screen from PLC tags

93Mustang Posts: 65 Rating: (0)	I'm using two tags in the HMI to allow the PLC to change screens on an MP277 10" touch panel. One tag is an integer that contains the value of the page I want displayed, the other tag is a boolean with an event "change value" that contains "ActivateScreenByNumber" and uses the first tag for its data. On my test application it seemed to work flawlessly but now that I've created the majority of my screens in the application this method no longer works. It seems to work once than doesn't work again. Has anyone else ever attempted this method ?

Floyd Posts: 130 Rating: (1)	Perhaps you should try using HIGH or LOW LIMIT instead. When you pulse the SCREEN Change Trigger, are you pulsing it long enough to ensure theHMI has read the trigger? (I tend to use PLCSIMrather than the HMI simulator, this helps test the code too! ) PROPERTIES --> EVENTS select HIGHLIMIT (assuming the trigger is boolean) HIGH LIMIT --> ACTIVATESCREENBYNUMBER --> enter the tag representing yourt desired screen number. (You could even add some handshaking as and additional event, see below) INVERT (or SET)BIT --> Some feedback tag saying "OK i changed the screen" and then the PLC knows the TRIGGER tag was successful. Perhaps it feedsback CURRENT screen and the PLC compares DESIRED SCREEN to CURRENT SCREEN. does that help? In general what your trying sounds like the right idea. (there's always scripting if your adventurous)

93Mustang Posts: 65 Rating: (0)	I was not pulsing the screen change bit at all. When it was working after you loaded the page number you want, the logic would then change the bit from a 0 to a 1, or a 1 to a 0 depending on its current state. After reading the forum I went back to using the PLC JOB 51 even though it needs to use 4 words of data instead of only 1 word + 1 bit.

Floyd Posts: 130 Rating: (1)	I understand you were using the change of state to trigger a HMI screen change, and that should work, as long as the state doesn't change from 0 -> 1 -> 0 before the HMI picks it up. I think what you had should have been ok. What is PLC JOB 51?

Is there an advantage to this method or are JOB's used for other more advanced functionality? Perhaps i should start a new thread?

Hello Floyd, Here is a link to manual: WinCC flexible communication part 1: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/18797552 Please have a look at chapter 2.4.1.7 Here you find the different PLC-jobs that you can use. (When using older panels and Protool there were even more PLC-jobs, but now a days you can indeed perform some functionality on an other base) Best regards, Wizard
