Hi Experts.

I am trying to change a part of PLC code on IM151-7 CPU and it won't let me to go online.

I have the actual Program from Machine builders and port setting shows MPI and I set the PG/PC setting to MPI (on Field PG M3 and Field PG M4) but I receive a message that port setting or cable faulty?

I checked the setting and also tried to use Diagnosis (PG/PC communication setting window) but I can not see the CPU and all I see on the test is: Port 0 only and OK signal on diagnosis.

I tried Auto search to find out actual port setting but failing on comm. setting?

By the way, BF is on as well, all the time

It can be MPI, but another possibility is Profibus DP.

At the moment my problem is how to find out the setting of Port on running IM151-7 CPU!

I tried Profibus, MPI and Auto search but in all of them I can see Port 0 only (PG/PC).

I am sure I miss something but I don't know what!?

My 2nd question is: How can I copy the blocks to MMC? This is what I did and didn't work even after resetting the memory.

I tried to connect MMC to Field PG then delete blocks (by menu, delete) and after that coping the new blocks (FB, FC and Data Blocks) by Drag and Drop on it and then Reset the Memory by the instruction was inside the manual (STOP, MRES, 3s...) but still CPU just see the old part of the PLC and not the added parts.

Do you know if your CPU is stand alone? Or part of a Profibus network?

Perhaps a screenshot of the results might help.

The Reset of memory using the switch is possible. (But when not done right only MRes is done.)

Mostly the result is positive after trying several times  (You need the right feeling, when to switch)

if you don't need program on PLC you can maybe reset CPU to factory settings or do other options, in this case check documentation to your IM family CPU where diagnostic and other system procedures are described but check manual for first about steps how to do that. In this case I feel that port will be resetted to default MPI option.

Try do backup of MMC with PG if it can be doable in your side to have possible backup.

Another hint what I discovered long time ago is use of PB cable to simply interconnect and use some one of terminators on PB Plug to maybe have connection ok.

Duris_I's suggestion is th normal way to proced: check your documentation and follow the instructions.. And Wizard already provided you with the link to the manual for the IM 151-7 earlier.

 good point, I also saw in his post use of PG M4 where MPI/DP interface is available. Therefore I recommended to him use PB cable for sure with termination set possibility. Hope I see his infos correctly.

And to answer previous question, I used different cables with different com settings like MPI cable (6ES7901-08F00-0AA0) comes with Field PG M3 and M4, and normal Profibus cable also 12MB Profibus cable (6ES7901-4BD00-0XA0).

Looks like my problem is all ET200s and I am missing something related to this series, as I have no problem with other types with MPI, Profibus or Ethernet...

What this means from Manual book: It connects the ET 200S with PROFIBUS DP via the RS 485 interface?

Maybe my problem is here, I used MPI cable or Profibus cable!!!

Is there any chance I should use RS485 cable?

IM151-1 is not a CPU,  it's just an interface module.

 Profibus and MPi are both based on RS485. MPI and Profibus uses the same cable and connectors.

Did you test the connection from PG/PC Interface? There is the possibility to test if the connection parameters are correct.

I did it in workshop and shows OK here

Also I try to connect to another 300CPU with MPI and was OK and I could go online to other CPUs.

Some pictures of different CPU with MPI setting or DP setting that let me to go online to those CPU but not to the 151-7 CPU.

I also dont see it in accessible Nodes or bot seeing by Auto in Set PG/PC Interface.

ok then one idea can be same node address. Set your PG to 10 f.ex. or other value but not to higher to not over higher value. Maybe that IM is set with address 0, no other idea to me about your problem, hope that IM ports (also other one station) is not damaged.

Only question but be carefully to do, did you tried that my sugestion to reset it to factory default? You need also MMC reset to this because after restart it load again saved cfg from MMC, procedure is in manual with Reset MMC. But be careful that you clear MMC complete without to have backup of prj,...

If you have another clear any MMC (not used) you have luck and can try reset with this MMC what you don't need, this can be better than reset that IM MMC which contain maybe prj. Do you understand my sugestions?

Hi,

one thing you can do is just pull out the MMC if you have in your system and then reset the IM 151-7 and then try to connect it with your PG. The other thing , did you attach any hardware with the IM 151-7 if you are doing so unplug them and test the IM in stand alone situation. If still you are unable to reach the IM then may be your hardware is faulty because you can communicate the PG with the IM over MPI and PROFIBUS both protocols when it is in Factory reset condition.

Problem was faulty communication port on CPU 151-7.

I ordered a new one and tested Ok, download the software and running OK now.
