Plastic Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hi all, My MM420 stop without error message after operating just one week. Actually, this is the 2drive and the earlier MM420 only operated about 2 months. I guess is due to the motor protection using thermostat as P0947 = 85 and P2106=722.2. My connection for thermostat is terminal 7&8 the parameter settingP0703=29.Also, a resistance of 1kohminbetween terminal 7 & 9. I checked on manual MM420 have no function for thermostat protection. Only have thermistor (PTC) protection. Kindly advise MM420 which terminal is use for thermostat protection and the parameter setting? Plastic

gornik_lg Experienced Member Joined: 5/7/2008 Last visit: 8/18/2025 Posts: 41 Rating: (2)	Hello! If You want use thermostat instead of PTC You must connect it between 7&8 like PTC, but don't connect resistor between 7 and 9. Parameter 703 = 29 the same like with thermistor.

Plastic Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hi Gornik, Thank for your advise. I tried but it did not work.The drive still could not run. I measure the terminal 7&9 and 8&9 both have 27vDC. If with the 1kohm resistance across the terminal 7&9 than the voltage at 7&9 and 8&9 both 26vDC. The first MM420 operated for one month and the second MM420 only one week. Both drive stop without error message.During changing the second MM420 it start immedicatly. No changing of parameter or wire. When both MM420running, it stop occasionally and no error message, but aftershut-down the power and re-start, the motor is running. Just can't think off where is the problem? Could you advise where can be wrong? Thank and looking forward to hear from you. Plastic

Plastic Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Dear All, Since, have not hear any sugesstion yet. I tried another way by disconnect all the control wire at the MM420. Link a wire between terminal 7 & 8. Powder on the drive and make contact terminal 8 & 5. The drive still stay at stop. I just wander could it be due to different supply voltage? The terminal 7 (DIN3)& 8 is using frequency 24vDC (terminal 8). However, weusing external 24vDC to start the drive at terminal 5 (DIN1).This internal and external voltage mix together (DIN 1 & DIN 3) After a period operation, may be cause the electronic components damaged but is not big enought for frequency to giveerror message?I meassure the voltage at terminal7&8and 8&9 both 27vDC.at terminal 5&9 is 24vDC. Anybody could help?

Today, I change the third MM420 and found the following: 1. No problem to start up the 500Hz motor.The current measure is 1.2A (3 kw drive set current at 6.4A). I operated for 2 minute and stop the motor. 2. After 20min start the drive second time, it have error code F0001 motor did not run. 3. Off power to re-set and start the drive again, error code A0922 not output to the motor. 4. Check paremeter r0207 the value have changed from 6.4 to 8.5. 5. Check parameter r0947 the value 0=0, 1=0,2=1, 3=1, 4=85, 5=85,6=85,7=85 So, again problem on the drive... Need help.. Plastic

May be SIEMENS could investegate the reason when my colleague return to the workshop in Denmark. Although my basis problem for MM420 have not been solve. However,I appreciatedfor everybody affort. JensS Posts: 739 Rating: (55)	Hello, pls have a look into the manual http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/24523400in chapter 3.19 Thermal motor protection and overload responses you will find the information. But it could be that this is not your problem….. What exactly means the inverter Stops? Is it still ON = running with out set point (where do you get you frequency set point from)? Is it switched OFF (standby)? …..???????

JensS Posts: 739 Rating: (55)	Hello, there are a few possibilities: An lost or an wrong comand like: an lost ON-command, or an lost Set point Signal > Pls check the wiring Or an OFF2 > The OFF2 disables the pulse = the inverter is still running but the motor stops after a while or don´t start running. Pls check the parameter, especially P0701 – P0709 and P0844
