Hello, I am quite new to using the Siemens LOGO! 

I am trying to use the LOGO! (8.3 that is) to write to a coil register with Modbus on another device by trying to do that with the help of using the network output block. When I was testing out to see if it was working then it didn't do any effect at all. The program was basically using a logical high to that network output block with the coil that I had as my address.

What I want to do is just to write to a single coil in order to activate one thing on the modbus capable device. It works when using a Modbus simulation tool on the computer but not through the LOGO! I tried to use diagnostics and it works to ping the device and it says that the status is connected but still it has no effect at all. Is there something that I have missed when I tried to apply this?

Unfortunately, it doesn't work to open the file, giving me "Unknown error" when trying to open the file.

Which version of the software do you have? I had no problem loading the program.

Perhaps open the LSC application first. Then request to open the program.

 I use LOGO soft comfort 8.3 running on Linux, I try to open the file from File -> Open in the LOGO! soft comfort program.

Note the exact version. The last update was in August February 2022: V8.3 SP1 Update 1.
Also open the LSC application first.
Then open the program from the Application. 

Not impossible that you would be having issues with the Linux version. You can add a test program of yours and we can see if our Windows version opens it.

I tried to use it with a modbus simulation program on my computer aswell and that works like a charm. Is there anyway you can debug this problem? I was thikning about using WireShark on my computer for the local network but it doesnt seem to send anything at all from the PLC to the ModBus device.

There is a possibility that your software is not working as it should. Please talk to Siemens as Mr. ixo65 suggests. Use the "Support Request" link.

Consider adding a project from your side. It will be a bonus if Mr. ixo65 (or another forum volunteer) has a look at what you have. But all the volunteer assistance still would not help if your software do not run properly.

I did not know it because I couldn't see it anywhere, and I couldn't find it either in the manual of the LOGO! 

But at least it works now so I am happy :)
