CPU315 Redundancy problem with IM-153-2

john Enthu Posts: 69 Rating: (0)	Dear Sir, i have S7-300 Redundant System with CPU-315-2 DP and one ET200M Station. it is running fine while both cpu's are active and working OK. when i chageover the CPU, then also, it works fine and all outputs and data is retained. My Problem: When i put CPU-A in Stop Mode and CPU-B in RUN Mode and theni powered the PLC Panel, then i am not getting my outputs activated. Also, note that after starting the PLC Panel, i am getting IM-1 Active (Active and On LED indication glowing)and IM-2 standby(only On indication glowing). is it right? ( i communicated with siemens person locally, he said that if CPU-B is running, then IM-2 must be active.). If i put IM-1 power supply down, then i am getting IM-2 Activated. then, i am getting outputs as per my logic and programs. I dont understand that ifCPU-Bis in RUN Mode and CPU-A is in Stop Mode, then why IM-1 is getting activated?. why not IM-2 getting activated.? If this problem is of redundancy configured, then please, let me have proved redundancy that can be configured in my system for this type of problem solution. what may be the reason behind this.........? Please, help me.....

I think for creat a good redundancy system you must use UPS on the PLC panel becauseredundancy is important for PLC fault, not power cut selametle yusuf torun

john Enthu Posts: 69 Rating: (0)	Dear Sir, i used Edit-->insert redundant only. i am saying power up means i am switching off the power supply of PLC and then againg switching on the same. at this moment, i should get proper system to work. i dont understand that why IM-1 is getting activated. why not IM-2? please, suggest me the solution.

007 Posts: 34 Rating: (0)	Dear John Enthu, Please check the supply voltage coming to IM-2 module. I think somewhere supply voltage coming to IM-2 module is get down either bacuase of IM-1 module power connection or somewhere else. Please check the profubus communication between CPU 1 & 2 with IM-1 & 2 respectively. Regards, Rajesh

john Enthu Posts: 69 Rating: (0)	Dear 007, supply voltage for IM-1, IM-2, CPU-1, CPU-2 is common. Also, checked the profibus cables connections. mainissue is: when i put both the cpu in RUN Mode and then i creat any fault, redundancy works very fine. no problem comes at this time. but in CPU-1-Stop and CPU-2 RUn mode case, if i powering up the panel, at that time, IM-1 is getting activated. not IM-2.........? Why? hope someone can help me..... regards.

Sulung Bronze Member Joined: 5/26/2007 Last visit: 7/27/2025 Posts: 128 Rating: (3)	I don't think your redundancy is working. it looks to me that your cpu is working independently. yes it seems like it is working until you turn one of the cpu off. try this: re-create your ob100. i have a problem before, both of my cpu look like they are working, i turn both of it on and everything is find. i turn either one of the cpu it works fine until i just turn cpu b, and nothing happen. i re-create the ob100 for both cpu and it works great.

Please, check your status word ineach case (when you think redundancy is working and when you have this problem) in both CPUs and tell us how things are going. H-H Platinum Member Joined: 7/2/2008 Last visit: 8/7/2025 Posts: 928 Rating: (309)	Dear Gaurav Kharadi, In step 3, station B was Master and IM was assigned to station B, that's why IM-2 is the active one. In step 4, there's a Redundant Link Failure, (I'm not sure of this explanation but this is what I have in my mind) According to SWR manual, when there's Redundant link failure, the DP slaves stay with their previous master. SO, in step 4 the IM stayed withits previous master which is station B. That's why IM-2was active and IM-1was not active. This is completely wrong and when you have such situation you must interfere by yourself and activate IM-1 and then I recommend to restart CPU A. After restart, you will have Station A asMaster and the IM will be assigned to the right new master (IM-1 will be the active one). I believe step 5was based on a wrong situation (step 4)and that's why it doesn't work well. Try to correct the situation when you come to step 4 and try doing step 5 after that and tell us the result. Best regards.
