Hello everyone,

I'm currently working on integrating an HMI server internal tags as ( Redundancy ) from the HMI into PLC (S7-400H).Can internal HMI tags be directly exposed to the PLC.

If anyone has experience with this setup please share some ideas.

Hi,

Internal tags in SIMATIC HMI devices are designed to be stored in the memory of the HMI device and are not connected to the PLC. This means that internal tags cannot be directly exposed or communicated to the PLC. Instead, internal tags are used for local calculations and operations within the HMI device itself.

If you need to exchange data between the HMI and PLC, you should use process values and create tags that point to an address on the PLC. These tags will allow the HMI device to read and display values from the PLC, as well as write values to the PLC.

For server redundancy in the HMI server, internal tags are available. I wish to use these tags as variables directly in the PLC. Does the common platform provide a script for read tags that can be used to keep an eye on the server status?
