Is it related to PLC programming or some external hardware is needed? Thanks in advance. Hi Friend, Microstepping is a function of the stepper driver (amplifier). The PLC does not determine this. The drive you sent the specification on has the choice of full stepping or half stepping. Where a full step is 1.8 degrees, half step will give you 1.8 * 0.5 = 0.9 degrees for each PLC pulse. Other drives (ones we use) might offer you 10 "micro steps". Keep in mind that a "step" is defined by your stepper motor. Most popular motors are defined as 200 step motors (1.8 degrees). Do not however assume it is like this always. The disadvantage with micro stepping is that it degrades your maximum speed. With the PLC pulse output at maximum 20kHz means full stepping > 20k / 200 > 100 revolutions per second 10 micro stepping > 100 / 10 = 10 rev/sec Be careful on the drive you have selected. There is special instructions on how to connect 24Vdc as pulse. Also I recommend using PULSE and DIRECTION as drive method. I hope you have a good look also at the wizard provided in the S7-200 software to write the code you need to pulse the stepper driver. Good Luck. w

Since I need a more shorter step, i have changed the motor which has 0.72 degree step size.By half stepping I can get an step change of 0.36 degree (enough to meet my requirement).Now the problem is with programming. I want the motor to move forward and reverse at some set speed.To bring the motor back to home position, I also want jogging in both direction. I have writtentwo programs attached herewith. There is no problem with forward and reverse movement. But I am not able to make it jog forward and reverse. I want separate switch for rotation and jogging. Please help. arihant122 Posts: 21 Rating: (0)	Hi, I tried to execute my application using POsition control wizard but to no avail. I am finding this wizard more difficult than writing simple ladder logic as I did. Can anybody suggest alteration in ladder program to run my motor as I wish? Thanks.

Further to this I want to control the speed of motor while it is running. I know that speed can be changed by changing the speed value (pulse per second) in the wizard configuration. But for that I have to stop the motor everytime. Is there any way,like a user interface (or SCADA) from which speed can be changed from PC just by clickingINC/DEC SPEED button? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

But for that I have to stop the motor everytime. Hi-ya, FIRST TO ALL> May 13 be your lucky number this year.. happy 2o13. Yes.. well there is the catch -- changing the motor speed. If you can use the JOG function for what you want to do, then the speed can be adjusted even while running. If you wish to do positioning by using the wizzard - - there is less options. I suggest making several profiles for a few speed selections. The user can then select the profile (speed) he requires before positioning is done. ..maybe someone else has other suggestions? Changing the end target position is less of a problem. You only need to know where in the datablock the run distance is stored. Change that value to what you need. In this case the speed up distance, speed down distance and speed stays the same. Other methods for positioning exists that does not involve the wizzard. You can program the functions like PLS. The S7-1200 is easier to use for such applications. Better still there are stepper motor positioners that are fully programable. Another method is using a parallel port on a PC with open source (Linux) software. Sorry for not being more of help. Greetings. w

Soft Devl Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Markajan and friends, I have been facing the same problem while using MAP_SERV_Q0.0 project provided in the documents. I am following exact procedure to run servo as explained in the doc, but I get all done bits set already. Even if I try to reset them by setting to zero, they still remain set. And no movement takes place even if I use home or relative pos or ablsolut pos commands. I understand that I am making some simple mistake, but I get no clue. Please suggest. If there is some working project, please provide link. Also, If I try to use PTO wizard, I am able to run the profile. But If I try to run manual run, it directly gives erro 02 and does not run manual. Any suggestion is welcom. Soft.

Hi-ya, <Beforehand my appologies for not solving your problem with this post.> You may perhaps be more accustomed to having sample code to work from the way languages such as VB. Yep.. PLC coding is not always so nicely packaged. My suggestions.. 1] Create a new thread with a heading making it clear what you want to know. 2] Give us a sample of what you have already. 3] Working with PLCs the hardware (which servo; how connected) becomes important. 4] There are people willing to help.. just give them enough info to work with -- without giving the impression you are not willing to do some work for yourself. Between you and me.. the S7-1200 PLCs is easier to work with for software developers. From a brief read of what you said.. Error 02 may come up when utilising manual movement if a stop is requested on the PTOx_CTRL block while asking movement on the PTOx_MAN block. Sample code might just help identify the issue. To illustrate my point [3].. With the servo's I use most, I have to convert the 24V PNP signals to NPN. Others require 5V TTL signal levels. Hope to see that new thread. Greetings. w

HI, I don't know if it helps I use your programm and a TD200 display to change the speed in PT0_MAN.I have not tested yet couse i don't have driver and stepper motor yet(but in a few days i will) to try it myself.But first you have to use the PTO wizard,(if you don't then ERR127 will appear),then the text display wizard and you must move or create the starting address of the td200 configuration from lets say VB100.Then from display go to "TD200 SETUP" to change the parameter block (enter VW100).If you don't then after the td200 initialization the message "no parameter block" will appear.Now when i change the value through td200 i see the value in the PTO_MAN subroutine( where the speed is)
