5 Axis router w/ 840D running slow.

Mexellent Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi all. We just obtained a 5 axis Zimmerman FZ30 with an 840D controller and we believe its running slow. It brings the machine to a complete stop when moving from line to line in G-Code. There is even a message on the screen that says "Wait. Exact stop not yet reached." Is this normal? It is a big machine, so it might be necessary for it to stop in between each line in order to maintain accuracy, but it probably takes more than twice as long to do so. And it will move all five axes at the same time when moving from feature to feature very fast. I just want to know if its the machine or if its the CAM package or the Post processor. If the 840D is capable of running smoothly, then I know to look for the answer somewhere else. I will put up a video of it and post it on youtube so you guys can see how its running.

SteveJ Posts: 328 Rating: (29)	Dear Sir Withouty seeing your exact machine configuration, It is difficult to give an accurate diagnosis, But the 840D is more than caqpable of performing 5 axis machining tasks as you require. The "wait" message is generated when exact stop is programmed, But when is the function being requested? I would speak to the machine tool builder, with regard to how the machine is configured. The problem may well be in the program generation itself. Regards SteveJ
