Help me on RS485 ASCII data collection

AnUyen Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Dear Experts, I have five Displays (PM4BC) which return ASCII string on their RS485 port (two wire), each Display can be assigned with address. I intend to use PLC S7-300 to connect and collect data from these Displays, which communication module should I need? Or is there any manual for programing?...Experts please help me on this matter! Thanks a lot! (what Hardware and Software should I need?) Thanks so much for your help! BR, MHA

Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 5/11/2025 Posts: 2705 Rating: (321)	Hi, I don't know those displays, but with a CP341 you could make a RS485 Multidropline where you could use it to communicate with the displays. The only thing you need to know is how to communicate with this displays... What did you have to send and what did you get back.... It is easier to use the small new displays, they could be programmed with WinCC Flexible 2008 and don't need any programming in the PLC.
