Dear All,

I am beginner in designing SIL2/3 systems. We have a redundant S7400FH PLC. We have redundancy in CPU, Communication and IO.

Can anyone explain what are the basic architectures for SIL2/3 PLC system (i.e how many signals must be assigned for a single process value however i do know that  connecting each of the signals to different racks more availability is present)

Whether should we consider 2 or 3 signals connecting to a PLC system to achieve SIL3 using ET200M

 redundancy mean you have master and standby one, if your IO module configure in redundancy than you have 2 signal feedback for 1 instrument device, assume you have ES in panel then the device will connected to DI module with 2 signal (I0.0 & I2.0), this config you can set and / or for read the signal
