We have a winder that has a potentiometer for setting torque % output.  The operators could get into trouble if they incorrectly set it too high.

I want to use the TDE to set a high limit value from 0 - 100%.  Remove the potentiometer and replace it's function with the AO exp module ie if the operator sets 50% at the TDE, set the AO output to 5 VDC.  The DC drive can take that as an analogue input and limit the torque output to 50%.

I have often used the message texts to change timer values, counters etc by holding the ESC button on the TDE for 2 seconds and adjusting those parameters.  But I can't see how to use this method to write a simple setpoint.  Help please.

In my experience, operators who already have difficulties with a potentiometer are unable to master the complexity of entering values.

Wouldn't it be better to limit the maximum value of the potentiometer and only make this upper value available for a specific group of users ? You can see a simple limitation of the potentiometer in the appendix, where everything over 50% is cut off. But you could also use the entire adjustment range of the potentiometer and take the limited value as the end stops.
